Can’t Someone Look Over Divorce Settlements?

When I went through my divorce, I found myself a very nice lawyer who really filled what I needed at the time: a deeply understanding, grandfatherly presence that calmed me and made me feel like it all was going to be alright. I remember to this day one very comforting statement: that I had a lot to offer any man and someday I would find the right one.

He was great, but in hindsight, I wish he’d been just a touch more aggressive. I did get everything I asked for, but he overlooked a couple of issues, which I guess is true in any divorce: a couple of things people overlook in the turmoil they just wish their attorney had caught.

For my Pittsburgh personal injury attorney, I’m going to pay a lot more attention to detail and to my options. I’m sure these guys pay a lot more attention to these matters since the fee is based a little on recovery so many times (but not always). And in Pittsburgh personal injury is handled just a little differently than it is here in Colorado. Just as in divorces, every state is different: some states are community property states, for example.
