People who are under the age of 21 often find that they can not attend the events that they would like to attend because of the fact that they aren't legally allowed to drink. Although some teens specifically want to attend drinking-based establishments like bars, many teens simply want to go hear live music or see performance art and find that they can't because the locations where these things take place will be serving alcohol.
In order to resolve this problem, there are some events that are all ages but which closely monitor drinking. The usual method of dealing with the issue is to keep people who are of drinking age and people who are not allowed to drink physically separated from one another. Temporary fencing, plastic barricades and crowd control ropes are used to cordon off an area that is for the drinkers.
This separation of the groups of people at an event isn't an ideal solution. Problems still occur with underage drinking at all ages events. And groups that have a mixture of legal-age and underage peers get separated at the events. But it's a better solution than just not allowing the youngsters to have these experiences until they're old enough to drink and this type of crowd control does tend to work well enough for most events.
